    Description

Ever since Kennedy Town cemented its status as Hong Kong’s trendiest hangout, the dining scene here has been bustling. Adding to the eclectic mix is this quaint family-run restaurant churning out Middle Eastern dishes prepared by a husband-and-wife team.

Starting the meal with a Mezza Platter is a must; the Falafel with creamy dips such as hummus, baba gounash is a great introduction into the world of Middle Eastern flavours. Cheese-lovers will delight in seeing the slabs of halloumi that are a constant on the menu, pan-seared with golden-brown crusts. For mains, go for the kebabs. The meat skewers — your choice of lamb or beef — are well-seasoned with a mix of spices and herbs, so the grilled meat is tender and deeply flavourful. If you’re after a main dish that’s less heavy, the tangy Fish Tangine with a side of cous cous will easily do the trick. Save space for desserts like the Kanafeh, flaky cheese pastry soaked in a saccharine sweet syrup that’s akin to a little slice of heaven. (Feb 2019)

    The Buzz

"Meals here are lovingly prepared daily by Chef Mohsen Gaber Ibrahim and his wife, Zinab Mohamed Hammd. It’s a cosy and quaint space, and because the food here is so well-priced and delicious, it fills up fast, so make sure to make a reservation or call ahead.

We were wowed by the super tasty falafel, the lamb and beef kebabs, and the homemade (made from scratch by Zinab!) couscous that was incredibly light and fluffy. Definitely start with the Mezza platter, as it has falafel, stuffed grape leaves (served warm with rice and a tomato sauce and done just right), hummus, Baba ganoush and a small salad. Served with freshly baked pita bread, this is the ideal dish to share as an appetiser, or even for a light lunch." -Sassy Hong Kong
